The Paint Process

Frames

  • Grind 2 frames smooth.
  • Apply Undercoat.
  • Sand until smooth for days.
  • Apply Undercoat again.
  • And repeat the same until a perfect finish is produced, then paint.

Inside Sidecar

  • Down to the metal, making sure everything fits together with clean joints, and very straight sides. Flush connection between all panels inside and out.

Tanks and fenders

  • Down to the metal. Make sure that the two-piece back fender fits together with a straight line.
  • Fill all holes. Fenders and tanks are all is sanded smooth.
  • Undercoat is then applied.
  • Re-sanding by hand and machine.
  • Second undercoat is applied
  • Sanding done until smooth and straight.

Outside Sidecar

  • Sanding both with power tools, and by hand, and undercoat takes five days.
  • Fill in areas around the handles of the sidecar, assuring smooth clean lines down both inside and out.
  • All military weld lines on the sidecar are filled and made flush and smooth so both surfaces are very straight.
  • Even the inside corners are paid particular attention to.
  • So the finished project looks fine inside and out.
  • Undercoat the sidecar.

Paint - Tanks Fenders and Sidecar

  • Lacquer paint - BASF or Dupont
  • Clear coat applied three times
  • Color sand with super fine wet and dry sandpaper
  • Then buffed with lambswool finished

Custom Brilliant Polishing

All aluminum is polished to a brilliant finish, including the engine. Nobody does this in China, so Danny created it himself.

Engine and transmission

  • Rear end
  • Front brake discs
  • Front end dampener
  • All the aluminum parts on the handle bars
  • Transmission gear cover
  • Aluminum racing rims
  • Brake and clutch grips

Assembly
Bikes are assembled following completion of the painting process. Chrome is applied and polished and the polishing is complete.   

All engines, transmissions, and rear ends are reworked to V-Sidecar Specifications as follows:

  • All new gaskets and sealers
  • Port and polished heads
  • Bigger geared rear ends
  • Custom pipes for better exhaust and a true motorcycle sound
  • Reverse transmission is completely rebuilt, available as standard
  • Higher geared transmissions (only available without the reverse gear)  

All V-Sidecars are restored with completely new wiring

  • All new wires are installed and expertly soldered into place.
  • The fuse and power boxes are mounted in the trunk so if it rains - you're ok. It gives the engine a cleaner look.
  • Also a sturdy aluminum-polished battery box, with leather strap, and your own personal tool box.
